The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy Nepal will hold its first live webchat program on Thursday, April 30 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Consular Section’s webchat is an online forum to ask visa-related questions. The webchat addresses only one issue at a time and this webchat will be accepting questions on Student/F visas only.
This webchat will be live and selected questions will be answered immediately. Questions will only be selected and answered between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 30.
The full transcript will be posted after the webchat. Check the U.S. Embassy Website or the webchat website to see the answers.
Webchat Instructions
When the Embassy webchat is open, to post questions follow these steps:
1. Please go to this URL https://statedept.connectsolutions.com/kathmandu/
(Your computer will need the free Adobe Flash Player. If you do not already have Flash installed, you may download it for free at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.)
2. Log in as a “Guest”. Please type your name into the space provided.
3. Once in the chat room you will see a “Chat” box on the screen. This is where you can type in your questions.
The upcoming webchat on April 30 is a LIVE webchat. You can log-in between 2 pm and 3 pm on Thursday to receive immediate answers to your questions. If you are unable to access the webchat while it is happening, you can view a transcript of the webchat later.
Because load-shedding makes internet access difficult for many people, most Embassy webchats are NOT live. When you post a question, you won’t receive an answer immediately. The webchat will remain open for several days to allow many people to ask questions. Then, after the day when the webchat closes, a transcript will be posted with answers to all the questions in both the webchat site and the Embassy website.
Most America.gov webchats are LIVE. Usually they last about one hour. You must log-in during the posted time for the webchat to receive immediate answers to your questions. If you are unable to access the webchat while it is happening, you can log in to America.gov to view a transcript of the webchat later.
